24/7 security monitoring: eight layers

Each layer covers its own scenario. What slips past one is usually visible to another: signatures catch known threats, while integrity control catches any unexpected change to files. The availability layer is part of the Basic plan, the other seven come with Professional.

Availability and resources

CPU, memory, disk and network. Once a threshold is crossed, the engineer sees it before the site starts slowing down.

Web shell hunting

We scan website files with our own rule set, and every hit is checked automatically against the VirusTotal database.

Catches uploaded backdoors and hidden file managers.

Code integrity

We fingerprint the website code and compare: what changed, what appeared, what was removed.

  • Monitoring of virtual server resources

    To spot a shortage of disk space or memory, or an overloaded processor, in good time, we install an agent on the server that reports problems to us around the clock.

    The engineer learns that a limit is approaching before the site starts slowing down or stops opening altogether.

  • A break-in is visible within hours, not a month later

    Most owners learn about a break-in when the site starts sending spam or lands on a blacklist. We look for backdoors in files, track code changes and analyse logs — that is eight independent checks.

    Behind every finding there is an engineer: false positives are reviewed once and stop distracting, while real ones do not drown in the noise.

  • Backups kept under control

    Daily database copies and weekly copies of the whole server are stored on external servers, plus an additional archive copy on a third server.

    A copy that cannot be restored is not a copy — so we verify the restore, not just the fact that a backup was created.

  • Timely software updates

    We keep an inventory of the software installed on the server and compare it against known vulnerability databases — it is clear which package and which version is due for an update.

    Linux and 1C-Bitrix updates are applied in an agreed window and with a rollback option, so that an update does not turn into downtime.
